ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Sr. Classification Analyst to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex ! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation's only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium. Y-12 supports efforts to reduce nuclear proliferation risk and performs work for other government agencies (energy.gov).

We are seeking a Sr. Classification Analyst to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex ! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage federal regulations, statutes, and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) orders pertaining to the identification and protection of both classified and controlled unclassified information (CUI) at the Y-12 National Security Complex.
- Provide an advanced level of classification knowledge to the Y-12 Classification Office.
- Make cognizant decisions on information that is being identified and protected in accordance with published guidance, DOE Orders and Federal Regulations.
- Act as a self-starter capable of exerting considerable latitude in determining classification objectives.
- Read, understand, and make an accurate classification determination for any document or material produced by any organization at Y-12.
- Aid DC/RO's with reviews and help them find the right guidance.
- Ensure that every aspect of a document is considered and properly vetted against the applicable guidance.
- Handle issues and concerns directly related to key management systems at the plant level.
- Assist in the development of long-term strategies for information security operations and classification decisions at Y-12.
- Complete work assignments through consultation and agreement with others, rather than by formal review of supervision.
- Function as the public release authority for documents and material, some of which will include highly technical information or involve patents for new technologies, and the like.
- Education & Years of Experience - Bachelor's Degree and 20+ years of relevant experience OR a master's degree and 19 years of experience.
- Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance - To be considered, you must have an active or very recently active DOE "Q" Clearance or DoD "Top Secret" Clearance.
- Must be a DOE-Certified Derivate Classifier/Reviewing Official (DC/RO).
- Must be able to make an accurate classification determination for any document or material produced by Y-12.
- Must be able to help field DC/RO's reviews and vet against the applicable guidance.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to handle issues and concerns directly related to key management systems at the plant level.
- Must be able to assist in the development of long-term strategies related to classification activities.
