Summary
This position has responsibility for the Point of Care Testing (POCT) Program at MMC and at the MHS Outreach locations as assigned. This position is responsible for training and competency assessment of testing staff, quality control, document review, procedure writing, and implementation of new testing. Point of Care testing must comply with all standards and regulations and requires intensive work with nursing and other staff.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must possess a degree in B.S. or MT/MLS (ASCP) or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of supervised technical experience in a licensed clinical laboratory required, with experience using Point of Care instrumentation preferred.

- License Requirements: N/A
- Certification Requirements: ASCP or AMT certified preferred
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Meditech, Epic, Performance Manager/NetLearning
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
- Ability to work independently and make decisions when necessary
- Effective communication and tactful interaction with personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, and the public
- Flexibility, integrity, and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Skills in routine lab testing, quality control evaluation, teaching, and multi-tasking

- B.S. and successful completion of an accredited Medical Technology Program, or
- B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory science with ASCP accreditation or equivalent, or
- B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory science with 5 years of experience in a licensed clinical laboratory.
