Position Overview

We are seeking a confident, tech-savvy Controller to lead our accounting operations. This is a full-charge role responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including general ledger, job costing, WIP schedules, and financial reporting. You’ll work closely with a small but capable accounting team and play a key role in shaping financial procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full accounting cycle: GL, AP/AR, payroll coordination, job costing, and financial reporting
  • Implement and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Manage WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting
  • Collaborate with clerical staff handling HR, payroll, billing, and 401(k) draws
  • Support the company’s transition to Sage Intacct and train others as needed
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
  • Ensure compliance with construction and subcontractor accounting standards

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an accounting leader at a general contractor or subcontractor
  • Strong understanding of WIP, POC, and job costing
  • Comfortable with accounting systems (Sage Intacct preferred; hands-on, in-depth use of similar enterprise level accounting and field-ops software acceptable)
  • Confident, self-sufficient, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with service contracts and service-based revenue models

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $85,000–$115,000
