We are seeking a technically proficient GenAI data scientist with deep implementation experience in building and evaluating GenAI systems, and a proven ability to stay at the forefront of tools and techniques in the evolving AI landscape.
This role offers a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates living near our locations are expected to work in-office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities:
Support The Hartford’s AI innovation strategy to identify and implement high-end use cases, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry trends.
Support the AI vision and roadmap for the enterprise to position The Hartford as a leader in AI within the insurance industry.
Partner with stakeholders across Data Science, Technology, and Business units to align initiatives with business goals and drive innovation to enhance underwriting and sales efficiency.
Design and develop GenAI solutions for tasks like summarization, question answering, search, and data synthesis.
Rapidly prototype using cutting-edge tools such as VertexAI / Google agent development kit, LangChain / LangGraph, RAG frameworks, HuggingFace, OpenAI APIs, etc.
Research and recommend foundation models, tools, and libraries to improve performance and reliability of solutions.
Develop evaluation pipelines for generative outputs utilizing automatic metrics, human feedback, and LLM-as-a-judge methods.
Collaborate with ML Ops to ensure best practices for scalable training and deployment are followed.
Qualifications:
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years of industry experience in machine learning or data science, with 1+ years focused on GenAI.
Proven experience with GenAI tools such as Vertex AI, LangChain, RAG frameworks, HuggingFace, OpenAI APIs, etc.
Strong understanding of prompt engineering, RAG, agent workflows, and LLM evaluation.
Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.
Experience with vector databases such as Chroma or Pinecone, and cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. The company will not support STEM OPT I-983 endorsement for this role.
Compensation:
The annualized base pay range is estimated based on market analysis and may vary depending on experience and performance. The range is $90,160 - $166,080. Compensation includes base salary plus potential bonuses, incentives, and recognition.
