Location: Hershey, PA The Sr. Occupational Health Nurse (Incident/Clinical Management and Early Intervention) position is responsible for managing the Global operations of the company’s incident/clinical management and early intervention programs. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and staff of the Corporate Health Services Department. This role acts as a resource for the Health Services staff in The Hershey Company manufacturing sites. The position is responsible for: * Promoting the safety and health of all employees through prevention, recognition, and treatment of injuries and illnesses. * Develops, owns and coordinates corporate policies and procedures including PT (Early Intervention), Workers Compensation (Clinical), Incident/Clinical Management, nursing standing orders, nursing guidelines, Corporate Travel Clinic and any new applicable policy or procedure identified. * Drives improved health outcomes including reducing population health risks, managing and eliminating workplace health risks and supporting improved business outcomes through advancing employee health and well-being. * Providing effective disability case management to improve the quality of life for employees, improve productivity and reduce overall company costs. * Administration and coordination of designated activities in the occupational health department to ensure responsive medical support for employees in accordance with company and corporate policies and procedures. * Assesses, treats, evaluates, refers (if necessary), and follows up on occupational injuries and illnesses incurred by sick or injured employees. * Assesses, treats, evaluates, refers (if necessary), and follows up on all nonoccupational injuries and illnesses. Interfaces with employees and the employee’s physician. * Administers and coordinates routine health examinations to prevent occupational injury and health problems. * Manage global/national contracts for healthcare providers, including Early Intervention, Incident/Clinical Management, Corporate Travel Clinic, and define MRO requirements. * Administers health maintenance and illness/injury prevention programs designed to educate employees on health-related topics. * Maintains employee medical records and documentation for the corporate facilities and issues policies to the global sites. * Develop treatment policies, procedures, protocols and parameters for local management team emergency responders, safety leaders, and HR. Council employees for work and non-work-related issues. * Lead, develop, and perform audits in relation to compliance with OSHA recordkeeping, PT (Early Intervention), Workers Compensation, EHS Framework Assessments, HS Assessments. * Participate in the Global Audit Team for topics including Health Services, ergonomics, framework assessment and injury recordkeeping. * Oversee Occupational Health and Safety medical surveillance programs, including Respiratory Protection Program, Hearing Conservation program, HAZWOPER physicals and be knowledgeable regarding FMCSA regulations for DOT exams. * Actively involved in the site level nurse recruitment and interviewing and development of on-boarding activities for new nurses. * Performing other related duties as assigned or shared across the corporate health service team. Supervisory Responsibilities: * Implement and maintain occupational health program policies and procedures for the Global Health Services Department. * Evaluates nursing care provided to worker population * Monitor nursing functions to ensure nursing staff adhere to correct nursing procedures within the scope of practice attending facility management meetings to provide occupational health related updates * Assists the Management team in the interviewing and hiring process of qualified Health Services staff. * Support Health Services staff at sites to ensure workers compensation cases, records and reporting systems comply with OSHA, state, company, and legal requirements * The role facilitates and assures clinical practice professional and educational development and training of the Global Health Services corporate and manufacturing staff * Conducts performance evaluations to Corporate Health Services staff that are timely and constructive. * /Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:/* * Ability to function independently and work effectively in a team-oriented environment * Ability to independently assess & treat employee’s illness/injury (including emergency care) utilizing sound clinical judgement supported by Nursing Guidelines and Standing Orders * Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. * Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other electronic documentation systems. * Effective organizational, planning skills, written, and verbal communication skills. * Effective nursing leadership skills including critical thinking and decision making. * Strong interpersonal and people skills including the ability to motivate, cooperate and work effectively with others, and build partnerships with various departments. * Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements pertinent to an onsite occupational health clinic. * /Minimum Requirements: /* * RN BSN degree required with 5 years occupational health experience in an occupational health department, one year of which includes supervisory responsibilities. * Current nursing license to practice in state/country where employed. * No license lapses, suspensions or involuntary revocations in any state or country * Certified Occupational Health Nurse, COHN or COHN-S, or National Safety Council Advance Safety Certificate preferred. Must obtain within 1 year of start date or internal transfer to Sr. OHN Case Manager role. * Current certification in BLS (basic life support) for healthcare professionals through American Red Cross or American Heart Association * Current certification in urine drug screen and breath alcohol collections * /Preferred Experience:/* * CPR Instructor Certification * CAOHC approved certification in audiometry * NIOSH approved Certification in spirometry * Active affiliations with local national professional associations .
