Job Description

A full-time Post-Doctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Hong in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Maryland-Baltimore starting June 1, 2018. MD, PhD, or MD/PhD scientists are sought to join the emerging field of chemical genetics. The Hong lab has identified several small molecules that specifically perturb embryonic patterning. The primary goal of the study is to determine how these small molecules function by identifying their cellular targets using cell biological, biochemical, and computational approaches. Additionally, since aberrant activities of many developmental pathways are believed to play a major role in the pathogenesis of various human diseases such as cancer, metabolic, and cardiovascular diseases, an important goal is to explore the therapeutic potential of these small molecules in various murine disease models. Qualifications

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or M.D. with expertise in techniques of cell and molecular biology. Depending on background and interest, the post-doc will perform experiments involving drug target identification, proteomics, biochemistry, computational biology, and/or murine or zebrafish disease models. Prior experience in these methodologies and a willingness to learn new techniques are highly valued. If interested, please email a CV, a short statement of research interests, and the names and contact information for three references to Dr. Charles Hong, MD, PhD at: Email:
