Certifications: AHA BLS, Certification in De-escalation
Must-Have: Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing systems, electronic health records documentation, psychotropic medications and side effects, and competent in care of diabetic patients. Able to assume the role of charge nurse, complete admissions and discharges, and use IV pumps.
Description:
Adult Psych RN will work rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights.
The unit treats patients aged 18 to 65 years with diverse mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis.
The unit accommodates medically acute patients as well, requiring IVs, CPAPs, wound care, and diabetic care.
The clinician to patient ratio is 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients.
Knowledge of relevant mental health laws and regulations is required, particularly regarding restraint and seclusion, guardianship, healthcare proxies, and court-ordered medication.
Training in AVADE is offered on-site, along with lead EKG training.
Floating to other units may be required.
This role mandates a commitment to rotating shifts for day rotation but does not require rotation for night positions.
