Director, Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute Cancer Center Jobs The University of Arizona Cancer Center Founded in 1976, the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is one of only 57 NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, placing it among the top tier of cancer centers nationwide. Under the leadership of Dan Theodorescu, MD, PhD, UACC is entering a new era of strategic growth and transformation. We are currently conducting a national search for the inaugural Director of the Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute (GLCBCRI).

The successful candidate will meet the requirements for either a career track or tenure track faculty position, according to College and University guidelines. They will be a renowned scientist and accomplished leader with a strong record of extramural funding, impactful publications, and a passion for advancing breast cancer research, treatment, cure, and prevention, as well as providing excellent clinical oncology care.

The Director will have experience in building research initiatives and possess an entrepreneurial spirit to lead the growth of the newly founded GLCBCRI. They will be capable of uniting researchers from diverse backgrounds across the University of Arizona and beyond to develop an internationally recognized translational breast cancer research enterprise, translating lab discoveries into new treatments through collaborations locally, nationally, and internationally.

Duties & Responsibilities

Collaborate with UACC leadership to develop a vision for GLCBCRI that inspires faculty engagement, fosters growth and innovation, and enhances the institute's stature nationally and internationally.

Expand breast cancer research collaborations within GLCBCRI through faculty development, recruiting high-caliber NIH-funded researchers, and strengthening partnerships within UACC and across UA to increase extramural funding and impact.

Promote innovation in breast cancer discoveries, including translation of lab research, new prevention and treatment approaches, and improvements in cancer care delivery.

Expand GLCBCRI’s research scope to include basic, clinical, and translational studies, as well as population science and clinical trials programs.

Identify opportunities to attract philanthropic support and engage stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

MD or MD/PhD

Eligibility for faculty appointment at the Associate or Professor level at the University of Arizona College of Medicine

Clinically active candidates must be board-certified and eligible for licensure in Arizona
