GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the guidance of the Branch Director, this position oversees the development of staff, volunteers, and coaches, manages the budget, and all operations for youth & adult sports as well as collegiate intramurals in the McPherson community. The Senior Program Director recruits and advocates for sports in the community at large, provides additional support to the Branch Director for all branch needs, and ensures the delivery of high-quality programs. MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field 5 years’ experience in Youth Program development and management 5 years’ experience and proven success in hiring, managing, training, and developing staff 5 years’ experience in development and management of budgets Physical/Mental Requirements: Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive motions Effective leadership, delegation, and communication skills, both oral and written Problem-solving, organizational, and task management skills; ability to make independent decisions in a dynamic environment High attention to detail, accuracy, and alertness Initiative and ability to work independently Ability to relate to and work with diverse groups Teamwork and leadership abilities with respect for confidentiality and professionalism Job Requirements: Responsible for increasing youth and adult sports participation in the community Develop and grow collegiate intramural sports on campus Recruit, develop, and hire officials and volunteer coaches Uphold the YMCA mission, vision, and values Attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire Complete CPR/AED, First Aid, O2, and Listen First Workshop as per employment conditions Learn emergency procedures and policies for McPherson sports Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization Work a schedule that includes evenings and weekends to meet branch needs JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Staff Development: Recruit, hire, train, and manage part-time site supervisors, officials, and volunteer coaches Develop strategies to support staff, volunteers, and officials in achieving program goals and retention Review and evaluate performance regularly Conduct seasonal meetings and training sessions Ensure staff and officials’ certifications are current and meet standards Program Operations: Ensure programs comply with standards and operate effectively Develop, implement, and manage high-quality, safe programs with growing participation Recruit participants for programs, tournaments, camps, and clinics Incorporate customer service strategies to enhance retention and satisfaction Utilize all customer service systems effectively for registration, communication, and recruitment Monitor and evaluate program delivery and staff performance for quality Maintain visibility and engagement with staff, volunteers, parents, and participants Respond to inquiries within 24 hours Communicate program updates and needs promptly to the Branch Director Adhere to child abuse prevention policies, attend training, and report concerns appropriately Fiscal Management: Manage budgets to meet and exceed financial goals, increasing revenue seasonally and per event Community Engagement & Fundraising: Lead and participate in the Strong Community Campaign, special events, and fundraising efforts to meet goals Facilities: Maintain knowledge of risk management policies Ensure cleanliness and safety at all sites, reporting issues promptly Keep inventory of equipment and supplies up-to-date Other: Participate as a member of the branch leadership team Attend relevant training and conferences for professional growth Perform additional duties as assigned EFFECT ON END RESULT
