NFI Massachusetts Inc. is a human services organization currently seeking a Nutrition Specialist/Dietary Consultant for it's programs.
The Nutrition Specialist is responsible for conducting comprehensive nutritional assessments, providing guidance on healthy eating, and ensuring compliance with nutritional standards in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position involves collaborating with clients and staff to address nutritional concerns, conducting training sessions, and actively participating in menu planning to promote balanced meals. The Nutrition Specialist will also play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with statewide school lunch program guidelines.
Essential Functions
: Client Nutritional Assessment: Meet with new clients to conduct nutritional assessments, following Joint Commission standards, to identify dietary needs and develop personalized nutrition plans. Collaborative Support: Work closely with staff members to address and resolve nutritional concerns for clients, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to client care. Weight Management: Meet with clients who have concerns about weight management, providing guidance on healthy weight control strategies. Training and Education: Conduct in-service training sessions on various nutrition-related topics for both staff and clients to promote informed dietary choices and overall health. Meal Planning: Provide in-depth training on healthy meal planning and appropriate portion sizes to both staff and clients, empowering them to make better food choices. Menu Enhancement: Continuously monitor menus and offer recommendations for enhancing variety and ensuring balanced meals to promote overall nutritional well-being. School Lunch Program Compliance: Assist the agency in maintaining compliance with statewide school lunch program regulations, ensuring that meals served meet the required nutritional standards. Policy Review: Periodically review food service procedures and policies, making necessary updates and improvements to align with best practices and regulations. Qualifications/Education/Experience
: Master’s degree in a related field, such as Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health. Prior experience related to the essential functions of this role, preferably in a healthcare or community nutrition setting. Current licensure or certification applicable in the state where services are performed. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to nutrition services. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate and train both clients and staff. Commitment to promoting healthy eating and nutritional well-being. Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and responsibilities. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Compensation : $50 an hour.
