Job Description The IT Systems Engineer SR holds the primary responsibility for the implementation, support and process management for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Childrens Hospital of Chicagos Information Technology needs. As this position holds a senior role on the Network Services team, this individual is required to have a master level understanding of all assigned server, network, and application technologies. This position is also required to assume responsibility for the successful management and completion of complex project and/or tasks. Finally this position is also expected to mentor more junior staff, i.e. the IT Windows Systems Engineer. Job Functions: Develops and manages complex projects related to network and server technologies, including desktop technology and deployments where indicated. Mentors more junior technical staff and/or IM Applications and other IM team members. Participate in other department or organizational project tasks as required. Install and manage assigned server, network and client hardware, operating systems and application software. Hardware and software includes but is not limited to: Microsoft Windows, Linux (Red Hat)or other operating system types for network, server, and client technology. Application related technology support whether primarily or via vendor management, Myriad health care vendor applications for clinical and business needs: e.g. Epic EMR. Completes assigned Help Desk support tickets within IM Department standards Serves as liaison to vendors for equipment and software maintenance Develops and documents procedures covering all aspects of enterprise-wide client/server administration Monitors and report on performance for all assigned servers, applications, and technologies Performs ongoing capacity and performance planning for all assigned servers, applications, and technologies. Assumes on-call responsibility for data center equipment operations, per the schedule. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelors Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or a directly related field or equivalent work experience is required. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant assigned client/server based equipment/operating systems in a complex enterprise network environment. 3-5 years experience with design, implementation and support of relevant Microsoft Windows or Linux (Red Hat) servers and client operating systems in a complex enterprise network environment. This include advanced experience with Microsoft Active Directory, DFS, DNS/DHCP, security and policy design and technology support. 3-5 years experience in information systems within a health care provider organization is desired. Note: Experience in working with systems in a Citrix computing environment and/or working with system management software, e.g. Microsoft Systems System Center, is highly desired. Experience with Storage Area Network technology, preferably EMC highly desired. Experience with VMware VSphere 5.1 implementation, upgrades and support. Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) preferred and highly desired for Windows Server Administration positions. Red Hat Certification desired for Linux support responsibilities. Other relevant certifications preferred and desired, e.g. Cisco networking. Master level skills in relevant network technologies, e.g. general networking, Programming or scripting skills necessary to assist in server and client management tasks. Demonstrated project management skills from both team member and leader roles. Analytical thinking for effective problem determination and correction within the department and in the user community is essential. The ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, while providing timely and responsive services are the keys to this position. Excellent time and project management skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, system diagnostic and communication (written and oral) are critical for success in this position. Pay Range $83,200.00-$137,280.00 Salary
