As a Senior Software Engineer on the Application Platform team, you'll be at the heart of the developer experience at GlossGenius. You'll build shared frameworks, core services, and foundational tooling that empower product teams to build better and faster. The Application Platform team's mission is to provide stable, scalable, and easy-to-use services, treating the platform as a product with engineers as customers. The role supports rapid growth with billions in transaction volume across tens of thousands of businesses. Responsibilities include designing, building, and operating critical backend services and distributed systems, evolving core platforms for scale and reliability, improving CI/CD, standardizing observability, enhancing feature flagging systems, owning projects end-to-end, partnering with product engineering, infrastructure, security, and design teams, mentoring engineers, and upholding best practices and high standards for engineering and product quality. Requirements include 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems at scale, proficiency in backend development with Kotlin and TypeScript, willingness to learn Ruby, passion for API design and developer experiences, experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives, and thriving in fast-paced collaborative environments. Technologies used include Kotlin, TypeScript, Ruby (Rails, Sidekiq), gRPC, Protobuf, Postgres, micronaut, and jooq. Salary range for NY, CA, and WA is $160,000-$210,000+ target equity plus benefits, dependent on skills, experience, location, and education.
