Senior Electrical Engineer
in the Coral Gables, FL office. What a day at EXP has in store for you
Meet firm’s engineering quality standards for your discipline on assigned projects. Oversee the development of design concepts by Designers, ensuring proper application and execution. Verify the quality of designers’ work regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings. Mentor and encourage the development of Designer-level staff. Apply firm’s risk management practices to project engineering. Lead the discipline design to produce construction documents that meet project requirements within schedule and budget, minimizing errors. Maintain a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all aspects of discipline engineering. Encourage collaboration to seek optimal solutions. Front-load projects and apply best practices to set proper project direction in SDs and DDs. Manage work plans and deliverables across multiple projects within budgeted hours. Write studies and reports for electrical systems on projects. Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting requirements or difficult coordination. Be an expert in specific electrical requirements within your market sector(s). Evaluate value engineering options considering risk. Edit and develop basis of design narratives documenting project scope. Meet with contractors during bid phase to review design details. Engineering/Design
Guide Designers in preparing one-line diagrams. Assist in responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals. Solve installation problems onsite for electrical systems. Provide calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules. Have thorough knowledge of NEC and other relevant codes. Apply concepts of emergency and normal power systems correctly. Possess extensive knowledge of lighting, photometrics, and lighting controls. Understand and apply voltage drop, conductor sizing, harmonics, etc. Edit electrical specifications and select equipment. Meet with vendors to determine specifications. Understand circuit breaker coordination and application. Apply specific electrical requirements relevant to your market sector. Project Coordination
Distribute project correspondence to team members. Prepare project meeting minutes and schedule discipline meetings. Oversee deliverables to and from clients. Encourage coordination between disciplines. Plan manpower for projects. Support the Project Manager continuously. What your experience looks like
5+ years in electrical design for buildings. Thorough knowledge of NEC and building codes. Experience with SKM Power Tools or similar software for engineering calculations (Fault Current, Coordination, Arc Fault Studies) is preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or REVIT MEP. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. EIT required; P.E. registration preferred.
