JOB SUMMARY:
The X-Ray Certified Lab Tech is responsible for facilitation of patient care through the delivery of timely, quality patient health services. This position is also responsible for assisting provider staff with procedures as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Procedures:
Work with medical staff to provide support, contact patients, follow up with patients, and maintain files and policies for clinical procedures. Rooming Patients:
Room patients in exam rooms: including taking vital signs, history, and preparing patient and equipment to be seen by the provider. Collect specimens and perform routine diagnostic procedures including EKGs, audiograms, vision and hearing screenings, ear irrigations, TB skin tests, spirometry, assisting with minor surgery and other procedures. Administer medications and vaccinations per provider order. Administrative Duties:
Receive patient calls and messages for providers. Fax and email correspondence for providers. Coordinate referrals to outside providers and scheduling outside appointments. Complete pre-visit planning prior to patient appointment to obtain all necessary information and reports for provider review. Stocking and Cleaning:
Responsible for daily stocking and cleaning of patient rooms to facilitate efficient, and quality patient care. Perform infection control procedures through the regular cleaning and sterilization of equipment and instruments. Report maintenance and cleaning service issues to manager. Customer Service:
Facilitate relationship between patient and provider. Develop relationships with patients, family, and outside agencies to facilitate coordination of care. Follow through to resolve service problems promptly and professionally with the involvement of appropriate clinic staff. Alert patient to provider changes and/or delays in schedule. Lab Tech Duties:
Perform technical laboratory functions including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, hemoglobin A1C, point-of-care testing, kit testing. Prepare specimens to send to reference laboratory. Report test results following lab protocols alerting providers and/or nurses about abnormal results. Perform phlebotomy and capillary punctures on patients to obtain samples for testing in accordance with laboratory procedures and policies. Participates in quality improvement activities including analysis of proficiency testing samples, performing and documenting quality control, monitoring and distributing results according to established guidelines to ensure accuracy of tests performed in the laboratory. Perform and document equipment maintenance including troubleshooting and problem solving equipment malfunctions ensuring proper functioning of lab equipment. Monitor and requests laboratory supplies to ensure proper inventory to avoid interruption in service. Assist in training of new personnel as assigned to ensure established procedures are understood and followed. Documents training on training checklist. Answer incoming department calls and respond appropriately. Comply with all laboratory policies and OSHA, CLIA, and COLA regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control. Maintain confidentiality of all employees, patient, and other privileged information regarding UFPHC business activities and according to HIPAA standards. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge of medical laboratory equipment uses and maintenance. Knowledge of medical laboratory safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of the current trends and techniques of x-ray technology. Ability to maintain confidentiality. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Previous clinical experience is preferred or equivalent to education/skills Medical terminology preferred. X-ray Limited Scope certification required, compensation given Minimum one year of documented satisfactory performance as X-Ray technician or equivalent position or equivalent experience is required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
BLS certification required X-Ray Operator License or Registered X-Ray Technologist Lab experience and Phlebotomy Preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing for long periods of time. Some bending, stooping and stretching. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a clinic office environment. Contact staff, patients and outside agencies. Possible exposure to communicable disease and medical preparations common to clinic environment.

$22.50 - $33.50/hour
