As the Director of Health Information Management for Aurora San Diego, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating activities related to analyzing, compiling, abstracting, transcribing, coding, indexing, and filing patient records.
Pay Range:
$75K to $85K annually Responsibilities: Process all physician billing requests for medical records Review legal requests (subpoenas or court orders) and copy records Review all releases for validity and mail back invalid ones Process weekly delinquent counts and distribute lists to physicians Audit charts for H&P and Psychological Evaluation compliance and track data Perform transcription corrections and liaise with transcription services Send out Tri-west record requests Calculate and send various audits (Fall, Read back, Psychiatric Evaluation timeliness, Pre-Discharge Risk, discharge diagnosis) Chair the monthly Forms Committee, take minutes, and update forms for the Quality Council Maintain the master forms binder with current forms Ensure the "Do Not Abbreviate" list aligns with JCAHO standards annually Verify and check bills for AJS copy, Cor-o-van, and Medwrite monthly; liaise with companies for issues Send quarterly denials of rights and involuntary detention reports to the county Compile data for the Quarterly HIM report for the Quality Council Keep Policies and Procedures up to date Conduct monthly in-services and new hire orientation training Attend JCAHO meetings, Quality Council, Ethics, Corporate Compliance, and other committees Complete OSHPD reports biannually Process the annual ALIRTS report Receive coding updates periodically Serve as the primary coding resource, notify the Business Office and Utilization Review of diagnosis changes or issues Supervise staff, conduct evaluations, and ensure compliance documentation is current; verify e-time accuracy Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required; college degree preferred RHIA or RHIT certification required Experience in a psychiatric setting preferred Benefits include: 401K Retirement Plan Health, Vision, Dental, and Pet Insurance Healthcare and Dependent Care Spending Accounts Life Insurance (including supplemental, term, and universal plans) PTO and PTO Cash Out Short and Long-Term Disability with buy-in options Tuition Reimbursement Employee Assistance Program ID Theft Protection Employee Discount Opportunities
