Description
As an algorithm developer, you will be responsible for crafting the creative look of videos captured with Apple cameras by developing capture-side tone mapping algorithms. You will drive algorithm development through all stages, from initial concept and proof of concept to on-device implementation, field testing, validation, and customer satisfaction. Prototype novel tone mapping algorithms using high-level software languages such as Matlab or Python. Implement, test, and refine approaches in Apple products to meet image quality and performance criteria. Collaborate with hardware teams to develop new image processing blocks that improve image quality. Influence the artistic appearance of Apple cameras across various products and modalities. Develop feature proposals for different use cases targeting consumer and professional markets. Minimum Qualifications
BS degree with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience. Experience developing image processing algorithms such as auto white balance, tone mapping, auto exposure, and HDR capture. Proven coding skills in Matlab or Python. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of digital camera image processing pipelines and ISPs. Understanding of image quality metrics and subjective evaluation methods. Knowledge of HDR encoding standards. Experience with professional video postproduction and color grading workflows. Interest in vision science and/or color science. Programming skills in C/C++. Exposure to machine learning algorithms. Passion for photography and videography. Apple offers a competitive total compensation package, including base pay ranging from $147,400 to $272,100, depending on skills and experience.
