Legend Manufacturing is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Welder to join our growing team at our Alma, Michigan manufacturing facility. The Lead Welder will be responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks to produce premium trailers according to specifications and safety standard. This role involves no direct supervision of other employees. It’s about leading by example and setting the standard for less experienced welders thru action.

Responsibilities Welding and Fabrication:

Executes advanced welding techniques with minimal supervision Welds efficiently with MIG and TIG (Hand Trigger) in non-traditional weld settings (Standing, Bent Over, etc.) Utilizes welding knowledge and experience to produce at a rate much faster than entry level welders Adjusts welding settings (Wire, Speed, Voltage, Etc.) to accommodate material thicknesses from .063” to .500” and ensure welds meet industry standards Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine welding requirements with minimal help Calculates and measures the dimensions of parts to be welded with ease Performs quality checks on completed welds to ensure they meet industry standards and design specifications. Identifies and corrects welding defects.

Safety and Compliance:

Adheres to all safety regulations and procedures Ensures appropriate personal protective equipment worn at all times Maintains a clean and organized work area

Other Duties:

Maintains equipment and machinery. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fabrication and welding using various techniques (MIG, TIG, SMAW, etc.). Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications. Excellent ability to read and listen to instructions and assignments. Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments. Ability to weld components in various positions (vertical, flat, overhead). Strong manual dexterity and stability for precision work. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Preferred qualifications Completion of an approved welding trade school program. AWS (American Welding Society) certifications (Certified Welder, Certified Welding Engineer, etc.).
