Principal Flight Software Engineer

As a Principal Flight Software Engineer, you will design, implement, test and support the real-time software that controls the E-Space vehicles. You will engage with E-Space software and hardware engineers to understand the detailed unit and system level needs and code highly reliable software which makes our mission happen. You will be responsible for assisting with architecture, high level design decisions, development, execution, and implementation of the flight software that commands and monitors the spacecraft. This position will report to the Head of Flight Software and will work closely with the engineering and regulatory team. This position will be based in Los Gatos, CA. What you will do
Develop highly reliable flight software systems which integrate numerous sensors and systems Own all aspects of software development, including design, testing and mission integration. Provide direction and ideas for continuous updates and improvements to the flight software stack Develop prototypes which prove out key design concepts and qualify technical constraints Present milestone advances to the engineering team and engage with the hardware team members on design improvements Why you're the right candidate
You have at least 10 years of professional experience in software development in C, C++, or Python You have flight software development experience on currently operating satellites You have knowledge of HW/SW integration at the sensor level as well as system level You understand software testing procedures and test case design You have significant industry experience developing software for embedded, high performance, safety critical applications, or similar environment You have the ability to work in a self-directed manner in a fast-paced environment You have experience developing processes to increase software quality and reliability You have knowledge of control theory You are proficient with Matlab/Simulink You have experience designing fault tolerant software You have knowledge of physics, math and electronics You have experience with the full life cycle of development for space vehicle flight software You have experience successfully driving technical development efforts across multiple teams along with the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers You are able to work extended hours and weekends as needed $100,000 - $275,000 a year The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position in question, which is based on market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on location, skills and expertise, depth of relevant experience, and other relevant factors.
