Berglundschmidt
Berglund, Schmidt & Associates is a longstanding provider of engineering and surveying services in the Grays Harbor region. Our clients include area businesses, private landowners, local governments, ports, utility providers, developers, and individuals.
We strive to help each client achieve their goals, not only with our own work but by assisting them with overall project development through process planning; identifying other consultants and coordinating their work; serving as ‘boots on the ground’ when working with out-of-area clients; and through our collective knowledge of the local area and its history, relationships with area regulators, and familiarity with local practices.
Position Overview

Administrative management of individual projects including planning, scheduling, and budget control, and ability to prepare basic workload projections, weekly production planning, and manpower scheduling. Ability to coordinate with other disciplines such as architects, electrical, structural, and others to provide our clients with customized services. Ability to interface with a wide variety of clients to understand their needs, prepare proposals and fee estimates, and serve as client point of contact for the duration of projects. Direct experience with state-level environmental regulations commonly impacting civil projects – e.g., NPDES, JARPA, SEPA, and ability to understand city and county codes across our service area - Grays Harbor, Pacific, and Mason Counties. Autocad/Civil 3D and/or Land Development Desktop proficiency sufficient to produce design markups and basic construction plan drawings. Ability to delegate work to engineer technicians for cost-effective design and construction documents production. Basic construction observation and documentation experience. Good driving record and ability to operate a basic company vehicle for short trips across the region. Experience and ability to lead on typical land development processes involving zoning, land use, and public hearings. Familiarity with septic systems design. Water wells and private water systems regulations, design, and permitting and/or experience working with related specialty consultants.
