JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration collaborates with the Dean to develop and coordinate the day-to-day operational, human resources, facilities, communications and internal relations, information management and technology, and budgetary and financial management of the College of Health Professions. This position functions as a key member of the Dean's management team and acts as the Dean's representative within the College in relation to these functions.

Responsibilities

Administers and manages the budget for the College of Health Professions departments and divisions. Assists departments in ensuring properly staffed. Implements and monitors the performance appraisal program according to university policy and procedures. Interprets and disseminates university-wide policies and guidelines for administrative and budget development activities. Attends business manager's meetings (College and University-wide). Supervises post-award grants and sub-award contracts management, including allocation and fund expense monitoring. Assists pre-award staff with grant proposal budget preparation, review and approval. Supervises and manages staff who report to the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration and the Dean's Office. Manages the human resources functions for the college's staff, including job descriptions and posting, employee relations, compliance, leaves of absence, and other personnel administrative functions. Assists in ensuring departments are properly staffed. Implements and monitors the performance appraisal program consistent with university policy and procedures. Acts as the college liaison to various University departments (e.g., Finance, Sponsored Programs, Human Resources, Facilities, Information Technology, Foundation, Planning, and Operations). Partners with the College of Health Profession senior leadership to identify and execute actions that drive profitable growth and capture market share; improve operational efficiencies and increase productivity within the budget process. Develop and implement appropriate training and professional development opportunities to meet individual and organizational needs. Directs, in consultation with department chairs, administrative support staff and participate in their reviews; chairs regular office staff meetings. Maintains confidential faculty records and other required documentation for faculty as required by the University. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Dean.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Nine (9) years of progressive experience that includes finance administration, program management, or human resources responsibilities;

OR

Master's Degree and seven (7) years of progressive experience that includes finance administration, program management, or human resources responsibilities. (Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task. Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities to meet deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and a positive and respectful attitude with peers, students, supervisors, administrators, customers, and visitors. Experience with automated spreadsheets, financial databases, and a high level of analytical skills. Proficient computer skills (including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook). Ability to develop and present financial data and analysis. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects that require demonstrated leadership ability. Ability to interact with individuals of diverse cultures, religions, and languages. Ability to maintain sensitive, confidential, and personal issues and ethical quandaries.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
