Dealer Finance Collections Officer

Harrisonburg Downtown Financial Center Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee the collection operations for Dealer Finance. Responsible for notifying customers of delinquent accounts by mail and telephone, filing legal documents, and managing bankruptcy proceedings. Duties include overseeing payments to customers' accounts and completing necessary correspondence with other departments. Accountabilities Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by telephone, mail, or personal visits to solicit payment. Monitor overdue accounts. Arrange for debt repayment or establish repayment schedules, based on customers' financial situations and follow up any variances thereof. Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment. Answer customer questions regarding problems with their accounts. Confer with customers by telephone or in person to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review the account terms. Responsible for making sure payments and posted amounts are properly applied to customer accounts. Trace delinquent customers through various identified sources as determined. Notify management and prepare and provide account records to attorneys when legal action is required. Prepare and provide status reports to management for ongoing collection efforts, delinquencies, charge-offs, and past due accounts. Perform various administrative functions for accounts such as recording address changes and updating profile information. Negotiate credit extensions when necessary. Be informed and make recommendations for customer questions and complaints through direct involvement or coordination with bank leadership. Provide support to lenders regarding past due accounts and options for collection of those accounts. Review, monitor and make recommendations for existing processes and procedures related to collection of accounts. Oversee and manage the repossession process, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory guidelines. Managing bankruptcy proceedings to include working with legal counsel if necessary. Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the USA PATRIOT ACT (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), including reporting suspicious activities to the BSA Department as well as other banking and company regulations and rules. Other duties as assigned. Education Needed Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience Salary Status Salary, Pending Experience Skills Needed 3+ years of community banking or collections experience (preferred) Thorough understanding, or ability to learn, all @types of collection processes in addition to federal and state requirements Possess critical thinking and analysis skills Strong verbal and written communications skills Strong relationship-building skills Excellent time management and organizational skills Attention to detail Ability to work independently as well as complete projects as part of a team Strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Be able to handle multitask situations Pendleton Community Bank is an equal opportunity employer / veteran / disability.
