Supply Chain Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Supply Chain Specialist to join our Materials Team at Swagelok Northern California! The Supply Chain Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the company's overall performance by optimizing costs and ensuring products are available to meet customer requirements, including quality, cost, and need dates. This is achieved through cost-saving initiatives, supplier management, risk mitigation, and effective planning. Key responsibilities include sourcing quality materials, ensuring timely procurement, and supporting Sales and Production to meet customer needs. The role also minimizes delays, manages supply chain risks, and optimizes inventory. Additionally, the Supply Chain Specialist tracks supplier performance, maintains the Approved Supplier List (ASL), and ensures accurate Supplier/Item Master data for efficient and optimized operations. Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned suppliers and commodities to ensure on-time delivery of orders, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options, as needed. Regularly track, evaluate, and report supplier quality and performance benchmarks and risks associated with the preferred supply base selection (On-Time Delivery, Lead Times, Capacity, etc.). Obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, delivery, and terms with suppliers. Plan and place purchase orders for material and services based on MRP, forecasts, production schedules or authorized purchase requests, as required. Drive and execute purchasing decisions that optimize purchase price discounts along with appropriate inventory levels. This includes determining when to leverage blanket purchase orders, bulk purchases, and other purchasing levers. Ensure the timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of: PO issues, invoice discrepancies, returns, quality problems, etc. Collaborate with SNC associates and/or customers to forecast product requirements to our suppliers and work to avoid obsolescence. Participate in and contribute to continual process improvement and lean initiatives. Encourage and coordinate early supplier involvement in highly technical and/or complex new product part designs using the suppliers' expertise to optimize quality and manufacturability. Other related duties and responsibilities that contribute to supply chain success as assigned. Education, Experience, Skills, and Competencies

Education & Work Experience: Minimum 5+ years of procurement, supply chain, or purchasing experience in a machining, manufacturing, or mechanical environment. (Required) Strong understanding of machining processes (CNC, milling, turning, grinding) and material properties. (Required) Experience working with machining suppliers, foundries, or metal fabrication vendors. (Required) Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure supplier compliance. (Required) Knowledge of cost drivers in machining, tooling, and raw material pricing. (Required) Experience using ERP/MRP systems (SAP) for procurement and inventory management. (Required) A 4-year bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Preferred) ASCM Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), ASCM Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), or ASCM Supply Chain Procurement Certificate, or equivalent (Preferred). Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent (Preferred). Skills & Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate cross functionally at all levels. Self-motivated, creative thinking and strong problem-solving capabilities. Persistent with a desire to drive to the true root cause of problems/issues. Think analytically and translate data into information for decision making. Effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written, with all levels of the organization. Benefits
