As a Monitor Technician at NARMC, you'll continuously monitor cardiac rhythms for patients on telemetry, recognize and report arrhythmias, and ensure rhythm documentation and communication that helps nurses and physicians act fast. Job Summary Under the direction of the Charge Nurse/RN, monitor patients' cardiac rhythms via centralized telemetry, promptly report changes/ectopy, and document/post rhythm strips in the medical record according to unit standards. Support admit/transfer/discharge telemetry workflows and maintain accurate telemetry census and charges. Key Responsibilities Continuously monitor telemetry; identify life-threatening arrhythmias and significant rhythm changes; notify the RN/ICU/floor nurse immediately. Print/post rhythm strips at scheduled intervals and for events; label, file, and route strips per policy (ICU/floor). Complete telemetry reports and event documentation in the EHR; include nurse contacted, actions taken, and follow-up. Manage telemetry admits/transfers/discharges; maintain the telemetry census, ensure device charging/assignment, and coordinate with unit secretaries. Cross-check patient status with Charge Nurse; verify alarm parameters and reset before shift handoff. Job Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of arrhythmia interpretation course with passing score; annual telemetry competency. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; effective communication with nurses and providers. Preferred Hospital/clinical experience and medical terminology familiarity. CPR/BLS required only if cross-trained for direct patient care (e.g., CNA/LPN/Unit Secretary).
