Aircraft Mechanic

As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-10, you will: Perform all phases of the repair and reclamation process for crashed or damaged aircraft utilizing lifting bags, cranes, hoists, slings, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. Serve on the flight control team and may coordinate team functions. Advises on and participates in the removal, rigging, and replacement of flight control surfaces, portable buffet and lavatory units. Accomplish organizational and intermediate level maintenance, which involves major repairs, TCTO's, and/or flight controls, landing gears, doors and canopies and associated equipment requiring structural or component maintenance beyond the capabilities of other activities. Perform intermediate level maintenance on aircraft wheel and tires and may also accomplish organizational maintenance such as wheel and tire and brake changes. Perform other duties as assigned. Areas of Consideration: CAT 4: All permanent, on-board, Title 32 Employees within the New Jersey National Guard All New Jersey National Guard members (M-Day, Traditional, Active Guard Reserve, and Drill-Status Guardsmen) Individuals eligible for membership in the New Jersey National Guard Military Grades: A1C E-3 to SSGT E-5 Selectee has one (1) year to obtain required AFSC Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Additional Requirements: Participation in direct deposit is mandatory May be required to successfully complete a probationary period Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Qualifications: General Experience: Must have the following experience(s): Removing and replacing aircraft parts, accessories, and components Making adjustments and settings according to established specifications Using hand tools and test equipment Specialized Experience: Must have 18 months of the following experience(s): Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting Functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification Coordinating the work of other mechanics Scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow Instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines Education: There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement. Security Clearance Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
