As the Lead Welder, you will be the primary point person on the shop floor for welding fuel tanks and aluminum stud frames for the weatherproof or sound attenuation enclosures. This position assists management with workflow and training. Major tasks, responsibilities, and key accountabilities include: assisting management in leading the welders on the shift, using MIG welding techniques to weld aluminum stud frames, walls, and roof to create the enclosures, welding all secondary and supporting components for the enclosure, assembling and welding walls around fuel tanks, testing welds for leaks and completing spot welds where needed, working with quality control to confirm all weld work is as required by specifications, participating in the required safety program, and working in a safe manner. Other duties as assigned and qualified. Education/experience: the knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED. 1+ years of experience of MIG welding (work/hobby/volunteer) light and medium gauge fabrication experience AWS Certification Certified Flux Core welder Technical Degree or Certification. Required qualifications/skills include successfully reading tape measure and computing basic math, interpreting shop drawings, demonstrating the ability to mentor, train, and direct lesser-experienced technicians and willingness to do so, working with lesser tenured technicians to help them develop/improve strong skills, demonstrating a positive and helpful attitude, working within safety guidelines at all times to teach and assure safety and reduce accidents, offering assistance and guidance to peers to help produce quality technicians, maintaining and encouraging a professional image and appearance at all times, demonstrating excellent customer relation skills. Safety, integrity, teamwork, excellence, and sense of urgency are also valued. Environmental job requirements include most of your time spent standing/walking, willingness to work in extreme weather conditions and around loud noises, environment may include vibrations, strong odors, moving mechanical parts, exposure to electrical shock, flammable liquids and gases, oils and solvents, working on platforms or equipment over 4 feet from the ground. Physical: able to frequently lift, carry, and lower 30+ lbs. Frequently pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, twisting, crouching, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and stepping. Does not require travel. To be successful in this position you should have previous welding experience and be able to interpret shop drawings. You should demonstrate the ability to mentor, train, and direct lesser experienced employees to develop and improve their skill set.
