Staff Audiologist

This position is located in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service at VA Medical Center, Marion, IL and/or Evansville Health Care Center, Evansville, IN. The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the medical center including all clinical and patient care areas involved with the service. The incumbent is a staff audiologist. The incumbent functions under the supervision of a staff audiologist or audiologist/speech-language pathologist of higher grade. Responsibilities include: Diagnosing audiologic disorders, conducting audiologic and/or neuro-audiologic assessments, treating auditory disorders through various modalities, and providing adjunctive interventions for the treatment of medical disorders. Consulting with medical center staff on various patient care issues. Being involved in program evaluation, teaching, and training. Providing individual, family, and group audiologic rehabilitation. Counseling patients and family members regarding management of hearing/communication/vestibular disorders. Serving as a consultant to other health care professionals and recognized subject matter experts on matters related to hearing, tinnitus, and balance disorders. The supervisor may assign staff audiologists to any VHA program and setting, such as inpatient or outpatient medicine, primary care, surgery, hearing health, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, geriatrics, compensation and pension. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm Requirements include: U.S. Citizenship Selective Service Registration for males born after 12/31/1959 Proficiency in written and spoken English Doctor of Audiology (AuD) from an audiology program recognized by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or other doctoral degree in hearing science or a directly related field from an institution accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice audiology at the doctoral level in a United States state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia Physical Requirements: See VA Directive and Handbook 5019, Employee Occupational Health Service.
