The Director of Business Operations and Governance for Oncology Medical Strategy Management (MSM), including US Field Medical, Oncology Medical Outcomes, and Scientific Communications, is responsible for executing key deliverables and managing special projects essential to the operations of the organization for US Field Medical, US Medical Outcomes, or Scientific Communications. These roles report to the Business Operations and Governance Lead. The position requires integrating expertise in Medical Affairs and Scientific Communication with MSM priorities to inform strategic objectives. It acts as a strategic partner to the Business Operations and Governance Lead, supporting strategy, operations, finance, and communications, with a focus on continuous improvement. The incumbent will oversee MSM business processes and governance, consult with Pfizer stakeholders, and create tools to measure and track performance metrics. The role also serves as an interface between Pfizer Oncology Medical franchise teams and the Pfizer US Medical platform groups, as well as cross-functionally across the enterprise (e.g., digital, finance, legal, compliance, medical governance). Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities vary depending on the focus area (US Field Medical, Oncology Medical Outcomes, or Scientific Communications). General responsibilities include: Functioning as a strategic thought partner on initiatives and organizational culture. Collaborating with Pfizer Oncology stakeholders to develop and implement strategic and operational plans. Coordinating strategy and collaboration between Pfizer Oncology Medical, US Medical platforms, and other stakeholders. Enhancing MSM meetings for better engagement and outcomes. Coordinating annual strategic and operational planning for Oncology Medical with Program Strategy Management. Establishing and operationalizing business processes and governance. Ensuring compliance with processes and governance, and addressing exceptions. Leading or supporting enterprise and cross-functional initiatives. Developing and tracking metrics to monitor MSM performance. Scientific Communication Focus
Managing medical initiatives aligned with strategic plans, monitoring status, and providing expertise on Scientific Communications content and resource management. Evaluating and mitigating risks, supporting metrics, chairing scientific communication forums, and developing documentation. Developing communication plans and leading enterprise initiatives for alignment. Providing leadership for Scientific Communications Lead Team meetings. Financial and Process Management
Partnering with Program Strategy Management on Scientific Communications Operating Plan, forecasting, expenditure tracking, and risk mitigation. Managing accruals and reconciliations for financial accuracy. Process Improvement and Compliance
Implementing new business processes and tools for improvement. Collaborating to optimize digital channels and championing oncology business voice across Pfizer. Metrics and Reporting
Creating metrics, tools, and dashboards to assess scientific communication impact. Monitoring performance, identifying risks, and communicating insights. Working with AI/Innovation teams to implement analytics solutions supporting data-driven decisions. Qualifications / Skills
Educational Qualifications:
Scientific degree required (PharmD/PhD with 5+ years, MBA/MSc with 7+ years, BA/BSc with 8+ years). Advanced degrees preferred. Professional Experience:
Experience in Scientific Communications, Medical Affairs, Project Management, Business Operations, with a preference for Oncology experience. Proven leadership and strategic advisory skills are essential. Skills:
Strategic planning, communication, business analysis, financial acumen, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, change management, and collaborative ability across disciplines. Work Environment
Flexible hours, approximately 25% travel, hybrid work location. Compensation and Benefits
Base salary ranges from $169,700 to $282,900, with bonus potential and long-term incentives. Benefits include 401(k), paid leave, health coverage, and more. Relocation assistance may be available. Legal and Compliance
