POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chief Business Officer (CBO) will lead the company's internal corporate strategy function, executing transformative projects and operational improvements. Reporting directly to the President and COO, the CBO will oversee teams responsible for strategy, project management, processing, closing, customer service, collections and new sales channels. This highly visible role plays a critical part in shaping the company's future through strategic initiatives, process enhancements, and performance measurement.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Transformation: Lead company-wide strategic initiatives, including development of annual planning in conjunction with COF office, develop peer benchmarking, develop strategic framework, prioritization and execution of transformation projects for both front and back-end of the business.
  • New Business opportunities:
Oversee in conjunction with the MD of Strategic Partnerships, the build out of the Strategic Partnership Channel and the growth of the Institutional sales team.
  • Operational Oversight & Process Improvement:
    • Review and optimize workflows within the processing, closing, customer service, and collections teams, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Partner with the closing team to streamline processes, prioritize tasks, and enhance operational throughput.
    • Measure effectiveness of customer service and collection operations to implement best practices, customer reward programs, and feedback mechanisms such as NPS at ISO and Merchant level.
    • Work with technology to drive system enhancements across operational platforms
  • Project Management & PMO Function: Build and lead a Project Management Office (PMO) dedicated to qualifying, managing, and monitoring the progress of strategic and operational projects. Ensure projects are aligned with strategic goals, tracked effectively, and delivered on time and within scope.
  • Policy & Compliance: Ensure organizational policies are developed, maintained, and updated regularly across the organization and in compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Data & Analytics Integration:
    • Collaborate with the Data Analytics team to define key performance indicators (KPIs) across the organization.
    • Leverage data insights to drive operational effectiveness, process improvements, and strategic decision-making.
    • Partner with Data and Analytics teams to design and implement a sales effectiveness program, providing sales leadership with tools, data, and analytics to improve sales outcomes.
  • Customer Experience & Feedback: Work with customer service and collections to continually enhance customer engagement strategies, improve satisfaction, and strengthen customer loyalty through feedback loops and program initiatives.
  • Strategic Projects & Business Development: Support leadership in identifying and executing mergers, acquisitions, and new verticals, with a focus on strategic fit and integration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, risk management, business units, and other departments to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and operational strategies.
  • Regular Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, process improvement initiatives, KPI metrics, and operational performance.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 15+ years in commercial finance, banking, or other financial institutions, with a focus on commercial lending, organic buildout strategies, and operational management. Proven experience in building and leading projects, process optimization, and leveraging data analytics for decision-making.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Strong strategic capabilities, including financial statement analysis and quantitative modeling.
    • Adept at process redesign, workflow optimization, and project management methodologies.
    • Proficiency in data tools, KPI development, and performance measurement.
    • Excellent communication skills, ability to influence across functions, and leadership in cross-functional teams.

Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Strategy, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Master's degree preferred or equivalent practical experience.
Salary Range: $250K-$275K
