Job Title: Driver/Aide (Car/Van) W/ Diverse Duties
General Summary: The Transportation Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of students and other tasks assigned during the week at various RCPS locations.
Shift Type: Full-Time (in-session school days)
Qualifications: High School Degree
Reports To: Classroom Teacher/Principal and/or other Supervisor
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures the safety and well-being of children being transported to and from school or earning setting and on field trips, including but not limited to:
- Follows and ensures mandated child restraint device procedures, ensuring children are properly positioned and restrained (babies fastened in car seats, and seat belts for older children).
- In the event of an accident or emergency, assures the safe evacuation of children and adult passengers (following the Car Evacuation Plan) and assists in assuring that all passengers are transported to the nearest hospital or to their private physician, as per Medical/Accident Emergency Plan.
- Assists in completing accident reports, when appropriate.
- Answers parents' questions, if possible and tells them any pertinent information about the child's bus/car ride or condition.
- Assists in maintaining the interior of the vehicle in a clean and safe operating condition.
- Assures that no child is ever left unsupervised on a school vehicle.
- Attends all scheduled staff meetings, team meetings, and trainings, as requested for various assigned duties.
- Performs other duties, as may be assigned.
- Diverse Duties to be assigned on a set schedule, in which the employee will complete duties within RCPS facilities, which include but not limited to custodial work, food/nutrition worker, classroom paraprofessional.
