Senior Accountant – Venture Capital - Boston, MA
We’re partnering with a top-tier Venture Capital firm based in New York City that specializes in backing innovative, early-stage tech startups. They’re currently looking to bring on a Senior Accountant to help lead financial reporting efforts, reinforce internal controls, and drive continuous process improvements across multiple entities and jurisdictions. If you're someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys building structure in growing companies, this could be a fantastic fit.
This is a 3+ month contract-to-hire role, paying $55–$65/hour depending on experience. The role requires on-site presence 3 days/week in the Boston office.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Take charge of monthly and quarterly close processes, including reconciliations and preparation of financial reports in compliance with US GAAP. Ensure all financial data is accurate and up-to-date—covering journal entries, cash transactions, and general ledger updates. Streamline finance operations, including accounts payable workflows like invoice processing, reimbursements, and vendor payments. Handle treasury functions, such as daily cash reporting and cash account reconciliations. Prepare recurring and ad hoc journal entries (fixed assets, amortization, prepaids, deferred revenue, payroll, and accruals). Monitor internal controls and identify opportunities for risk reduction and compliance improvements. Contribute to the evaluation and rollout of technology and automation tools that enhance reporting speed and accuracy.
Who We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field. CPA preferred but not mandatory. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or financial services setting. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards. NetSuite experience is required; familiarity with Concur is a significant plus. Previous exposure to finance operations or accounts payable functions is a bonus. Clear communicator with the ability to work effectively in remote and cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of accuracy. Comfortable using AI and automation tools to improve accounting processes.
