Job Description
The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Leadership Charter High School and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. In partnership with the CEO, the CAO oversees all aspects of the learning experience for students in grades 6-12, including alumni support through college and career. Using an anti-racist and equity lens, the CAO establishes an inspiring, comprehensive academic vision with rigorous student outcome goals aligned with the school's strategic plan. The CAO leads the design and implementation of the instructional model and program, driving outstanding student results through regular progress monitoring. The CAO collaborates with the CEO and other leaders to ensure the schools are engaging and supportive environments where students thrive, equipping scholars with skills and confidence for college, career, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee academic program achievement and accountability.
Supervise Instructional Leaders, including Principals and Directors.
Lead the development and implementation of the K-12 instructional vision and strategy to achieve exceptional student results and promote a culture of teaching excellence and educational equity.
Develop and select high-quality curricula and assessments across disciplines and grade levels in collaboration with middle and high school teams.
Oversee programs for specialized learning groups, including students with IEPs and emergent bilingual students.
Support teacher and leader development through coaching, professional development, and effective curriculum implementation.
Use data to inform instructional practices and adjust strategies in collaboration with the CEO.
Stay informed of emerging practices and innovations in education locally and nationally.
Create systems to gather stakeholder feedback to inform school support and improvement strategies.
College, Career, and Beyond:
Lead strategic planning and monitor progress toward college and career readiness goals for all students.
Use alumni data to evaluate and refine academic strategies.
Support alumni engagement and pathways, ensuring persistence and success post-graduation.
Senior Leadership:
Participate as a senior executive to meet accountability goals.
Model the school's mission, values, and work ethic.
Serve as liaison between school leaders and the executive team.
Lead, develop, and evaluate the statewide academic team.
Apply effective change management and relationship-building practices.
Educational Equity:
Align with the mission to promote equity for diverse students.
Establish a clear vision of educational equity across all teams.
Ensure curriculum and programs are inclusive and culturally responsive.
Lead statewide instructional equity audits.
Skills and Qualifications:
Master’s in education with supervisory credentials.
At least 5 years as a school leader with proven results in under-resourced communities in the tri-state area.
Minimum 3 years managing or coaching school leaders.
Ability to develop strategic vision and empower teams.
Deep knowledge of school systems, curricula, instructional practices, and leadership development.
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in education, minimum 5 years of teaching excellence.
7-10 years of experience in faculty supervision, curriculum development, assessment, and instructional strategy.
Proven track record of excellence with equity, especially in schools serving disadvantaged students.
Anti-racist and equity-focused leadership style.
Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive salary based on experience, with health, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
