The Anchorage School District is seeking an
Automotive Service Technician Bus
to perform maintenance and repair of district school buses and other vehicles. The position offers a 4/10 work schedule with weekends and holidays off, along with competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, life insurance, and retirement through PERS.
Job Summary The technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing school buses and other district vehicles, ensuring safety and compliance with all standards.
Job Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in a GED program.
At least two years of experience in diesel/gasoline engine service and repair on motorized equipment, demonstrating the ability to perform assigned tasks.
Must obtain a valid Alaska commercial driver’s license for group-A vehicles within 6 months of hire.
Must pass a post-offer physical capacities assessment before employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating a school bus for diagnostics and vehicle transfers.
Essential Job Functions
Use standard tools and equipment safely for tuning, repair, and servicing of vehicles.
Perform tune-ups, routine and preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs, including engine, transmission, and differential work.
Perform light welding and report equipment defects.
Retrieve vehicles and perform field service calls.
Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and assist with yard and shop maintenance.
Maintain records and establish effective working relationships.
Physical/Mental Demands Ability to communicate effectively, understand instructions, and handle stress in a diverse work environment.
Work Environment Work is performed in a professional setting, with exposure to outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
