The Opportunity: The Mid to Senior-Level Ship Mooring Engineer role offers a unique career opportunity to join a team of naval architects, structural engineers, and designers, providing solutions for US Navy and US Coast Guard ships. The position supports CACI's Washington, DC office, and client site offices at the Washington Navy Yard and beyond, with options for hybrid or remote work.
Responsibilities:
Lead projects by directing engineers and designers to develop ship mooring arrangement drawings, perform mooring and structural analysis, and conduct ship-checks to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Develop project schedules and communicate progress to clients.
Ensure quality assurance of all technical deliverables including drawings and analysis reports.
Apply relevant Rules, Codes, and Standards such as ABS, IMO, OCIMF, and UFC to mooring system design, installation, and operation.
Review and approve technical documents for correctness and compliance.
Manage a team performing ship-checks worldwide, with travel up to approximately 10%.
Coordinate with customers, vendors, shipyards, and internal teams.
Mentor and train less experienced engineers.
Qualifications: Required:
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field.
At least 5 years of experience in naval or marine engineering.
Minimum of 3 years designing and analyzing mooring arrangements.
Experience with mooring analysis software such as Optimoor.
Knowledge of design standards for mooring systems on commercial vessels.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office suite.
Desired:
Experience with dynamic mooring analysis and finite element structural analysis.
Familiarity with OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines and Navy-specific mooring approaches.
Knowledge of mooring equipment, materials, and design considerations for switching line types.
Existing or current security clearance.

Pay Range: The salary range for this position is
$79,400 - $162,700 . Compensation is influenced by various factors including location, experience, skills, and education. We offer comprehensive benefits including healthcare, wellness, retirement, and educational support.
