Job Description And Duties

Virtual interviews via web portals or phone may be offered as deemed appropriate and feasible by the hiring manager – standard in-person interviews will still be offered if conditions permit.
Under supervision of the Program and Project Supervisor (PPS), the incumbent analyzes program and policy issues in the Commission’s regulation of transportation and provides consultative and customer service to external stakeholders (such as transportation carriers, insurance providers, government agencies, and controlled substance and alcohol testing program administrators, and the general public) verbally and in writing on topics including rules, statutes, policies, and processes related to business permitting; jurisdiction and exemptions; user fee reporting; insurance requirements and filings; payments; compliance with vehicle-related requirements including safety and California Highway Patrol oversight; and compliance with driver-related requirements including controlled substance and alcohol testing
The incumbent also supports internal and external users in the access, operations, and maintenance of the Commission’s online transportation permitting system (CPUC Transportation Carrier Portal) through activities such as guiding users on using the system; identifying system bugs and working with IT (including third-party vendors) to resolve them; recommending system improvements; helping to develop written guides and instructions and user documentation; facilitating workshops for external stakeholders; collecting information to respond to Public Records Act requests; updating the Commission’s public website.
