Job Description At Relativity Space, we're building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known. Joining Relativity means becoming part of a team where autonomy, ownership, and impact are valued at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving unprecedented problems, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you'll collaborate across teams, influence decisions, and see your work come to life quickly. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help shape our shared story. Now is a unique moment to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, with Terran R gaining momentum. The most meaningful work of your career awaits. Join us. About the Team: Relativity's Integrated Performance teams ensure our products work seamlessly across all systems and disciplines, from trajectory design to aerodynamics to reliability analysis. Our teams size the Terran R rocket, design its missions for success, reliability, and reusability, and ensure all systems on the rocket and ground are engineered for demanding launch and entry environments. Recently, we completed the preliminary design and analysis of Terran R, including our first work on launch vehicle reusability, covering advanced trajectory simulations, wind tunnel testing, and structural analysis. As a Design Reliability Engineer, you will identify ways to improve designs and ensure hardware and operational concepts meet or exceed requirements. You will act as the link between analysis, testing, certification, and design teams, connecting technical dots and solving cross-disciplinary problems. Success in this role requires synthesizing complex, abstract problems into productive solutions and leading collaboration between teams. About the Role: Engage with vehicle design and partner teams (Integrated Performance, Test, Launch, Materials, NDE, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) to drive optimized designs through reviews, verification testing, and part approval. Collaborate with engineers throughout the design process to ensure hardware development aligns with criteria. Lead Design Criteria Reviews with design teams and responsible engineers. Guide and approve qualification and acceptance test campaigns for flight readiness. Develop and improve engineering tools, processes, and standards to support a product-focused culture for Terran R. About You: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience. Proven experience with verification and qualification of aerospace structures. Knowledge of industry standards for structures, pressurized hardware, and liquid rocket engines (NASA, Space Force, AIAA). Hands-on experience in design, integration, testing, and operation of space vehicles or large complex systems. Nice to Haves: Experience taking aerospace products from concept to production. Experience with cross-functional engineering and system integration under complex requirements. Background in mechanical engineering design and analysis. At Relativity Space, we value transparency and fairness. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and other factors. Our total rewards include competitive salary and equity, generous PTO and sick leave, parental leave, a learning stipend, and more. For benefits details, please visit our website. Hiring Range: $139,000—$177,000 USD We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, or other protected classes.
