Job Summary : The Lead Consultant represents the insured and the Company in the defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and Allstate Financial cases. The position prepares for and conducts hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions. Key Responsibilities : Review new file assignments and approve initial pleadings, propound discovery, and develop strategy. Contact clients to discuss their cases and answer questions. Review all documentary evidence. Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials, including expert witnesses. Conduct depositions and examinations under oath, and prepare summary documents. Prepare and conduct court appearances (e.g., matter management conferences, hearings, status conferences). Conduct settlement/dispositive proceedings (e.g., mediations, arbitrations). Try and/or arbitrate cases and prepare motions and summary documents. Draft post-trial motions. Investigate and pursue subrogation litigation as appropriate. Job Qualifications : Juris Doctorate and member in good standing of the Texas State Bar. Up to 10+ years of litigation and/or subrogation experience, including 1st or 2nd chair jury trial experience. Insurance defense experience strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, LexisNexis (preferred), and internet research. Ability to work effectively with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff under the supervision of Lead Counsel. Capability to handle a heavy caseload. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for working with internal and external contacts, preparing reports, pleadings, and correspondence, and collaborating with others. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to lift in excess of 20 pounds periodically, maneuver files and equipment, and handle court-related activities, including driving 40-50 miles daily. Functional Skills : Proficiency in MS Office suite. Budget and project management skills. Legal and business knowledge. Analytical skills. Education and Experience : Juris Doctorate. At least 5 years of related experience. Supervisory Responsibilities : This role does not include supervisory duties. Compensation ranges from $70,500 to $125,625 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
