DescriptionUnder general supervision, the incumbent delivers age-appropriate nursing care in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary outpatient clinic setting. This role plays a vital part in supporting patient care and clinic operations by ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate service aligned with UCLA Health’s C-I-CARE and Patient Experience standards.Key Responsibilities:
Collect comprehensive patient health data, including medical history and medication reconciliation
Measure and record vital signs, initiate IVs, and obtain venous blood samples
Prepare and assist with in-clinic procedures, including instrument processing and sterilization
Administer prescribed medications and injections accurately and safely
Process medication prescriptions and ensure proper documentation in patient records
Assist with patient education, including instructions on new medications, procedure preparation (e.g., endoscopy), and use of educational tools
Maintain smooth patient flow and support continuity of care within assigned clinic(s)
Ensure accurate documentation of all patient interactions in accordance with departmental and institutional policies
Respond effectively to changes in workload and remain composed during frequent interruptions or emergency situations Salary Range: $34.61-$45.66/hourlyQualificationsRequired:
Possess license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners withIntravenous Therapy and blood withdrawal certification BLS Card from ARC or AHA Able to speak, understand, read and write English to convey information at all levels of understanding Able to perform independently and interdependently Able to maintain positive working relationship with all team members, patients, and families Able to take blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and perform EKG Able to perform tasks with frequent interruption Able to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance and indifference Able to maintain confidentiality Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures Ability to take vital signs, administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician Knowledge of symptomatology of common and or life threatening medical problems Interpersonal skills in maintaining a cooperative working environment with the physicians, staff, and all health providers Skill to perform CPR Keyboard literacy skills to access and input data in computerized logging systems Demonstrated ability to be punctual and maintain good attendance Skill and knowledge to submit quality work in a timely manner
