The ideal candidate has heavy civil construction experience including earthwork, paving, underground utilities, and concrete work. We work in both the private and public sectors. This role works closely with the VP of Estimating to estimate and deliver quality bids on prospective projects in the Bay Area. The position also collaborates with field operations experts, takeoff engineers, and senior estimators. Typical Day for an Estimator:

Prepare complete and timely estimates for assigned projects of medium to large size and complexity. Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and estimate contents. Perform thorough review of takeoff materials provided by experienced takeoff engineers. Coordinate the estimating effort with the team relevant to the bids/projects. Interface with owners, A/E’s, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding budgets and feasibility. Support awarded contracts with job start-up and in-house meetings. Communicate effectively across all levels and escalate issues as per SOP guidelines. The ideal candidate is trustworthy, detail-oriented, makes good decisions, and can work in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, adherence to procedures, and proficiency with estimating software (HCSS Heavybid, Bluebeam, AGTEK) are essential. Requirements include: A 4-year construction management or engineering degree plus 5-7 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in estimating software and techniques, knowledge of cost control, and ability to interpret cost data. Knowledge of private, City, Caltrans, and Airport specifications, with a proven track record of delivering contracts on time and within budget.
