The Customer Engineering team here at StubHub plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of our users by maintaining and enhancing our authentication and authorization services through security best practices and first-class software engineering. This role will be based in either our New York, NY, or Los Angeles, CA, or Aliso Viejo, CA office and has a hybrid (3 in-person days per week) work schedule. Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain scalable authentication and authorization services. Implement security features to protect against common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP top 10). Collaborate with data science teams to integrate machine learning models aimed at identifying and preventing suspicious login activity. Monitor and improve the performance of authentication-related services. Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to account security, user activity, and authentication failures. Drive improvements in security protocols, performance optimization, and user experience. Keep up to date with the latest security and management trends and apply that knowledge to your work. Required Skills and Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally with a focus on authentication, authorization, and services. Proficiency in backend development using Java, C#, or Python. Experience working with security protocols such as OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect, and WebAuthN. Familiarity with building and maintaining scalable, distributed systems. Experience working with databases, both relational (e.g., MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, Cassandra). Understanding foundational concepts of machine learning (Supervised / Unsupervised) and the ability to collaborate with data scientists on implementations. World-class problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about security, reliability, and performance. Skills and Qualifications: Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), with hands-on experience building and owning cloud-optimized services. Expertise with containerization and hosting technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus / Grafana. Previous experience leveraging Machine Learning to augment authentication services to identify fraudulent or anonymous logins. Actual compensation will vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. This salary is part of StubHub's total compensation package, which includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits.
