This is a provisional appointment. Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job): Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Sr. Personnel Officer II manages and supervises the daily operations of the department's Personnel and Payroll responsibilities. Responsibilities

Processes hiring/promotion/termination documentation, time and attendance tracking, timely processing of salary adjustments and increases, worker's compensation, retirement, health benefits, tracking of accrued leave benefits and buy-back program(s). Works in conjunction with the Office of Human Resources (OHR) to resolve questions relating to leave balances. May assist in maintaining various databases tracking Family Medical Leaves. Handles and responds to inquiries from the general public and employees. Prepares statistical reports. Acts as a liaison between the Parks Administrative Office, sites and the Office of Human Resources. Conducts and attends training(s) as required. Prepares office correspondence and responsible for full cycle recruiting efforts for the department, including but not limited to, seasonal staffing and civil service provisional appointments. Assists with payroll preparation and distribution. Performs work of moderate difficulty, assisting in the general administration of personnel and payroll activities in the Parks and Recreation Department. Serves as the departmental Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sexual Offender Registry Information (SORI) authorized agent and oversees all CORI and SORI background checks. Performs relatedwork as required. Minimum Entrance Qualifications

At least three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time, paid professional or technical experience in human resources or office work. A bachelor's degree is preferred and may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently under deadlines and with sensitivity to confidential matters. Strong organizational skills. Working knowledge of the PeopleSoft HRMS and the City's personnel practices and procedures preferred. Strong computer skills and knowledge ofbasic computer programs (MS Word, Excel, etc.) Experience working in a union environment is a plus. Bi-lingual a plus. Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License preferred. Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. CORI CHECK REQUIRED. BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.
