Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/22/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, evenings, nights Employment Type: Travel Travel Registered Nurse - ER (Locals are not accepted for this assignment - under 50 miles) We're looking for an experienced Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse to join our team for a 13-week travel assignment, a top-ranked teaching and Level I trauma facility in Madison, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate is a dedicated, skilled, and adaptable RN with a passion for high-acuity care. Job Details Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Start Date: 09/22/2025 Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night or Mid shift, a mix of 12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) and 8-hour (3:00 PM - 3:30 AM) shifts Schedule: 3x12-hour or 5x8-hour, with required weekend and holiday rotation. Patient Ratio: 1:4 (days, nights, and weekends) Float Required: Yes, travelers are the first to float to other units as needed, including East Madison Hospital Emergency Department. On-Site Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation if parking on-site. Requirements Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care experience as an RN within the last 3 years in the specialty you are submitting to. recent ER RN Exp. needed Previous travel experience is required. Previous charge experience, teaching hospital experience, and Level I trauma experience are all preferred. Skills: Charting System: Experience with Epic charting is required, with experience within the last 12 months preferred. Level II Trauma Center experience is a must. Level I Trauma experience is preferred. Proficiency in a wide range of emergency procedures and patient care, including: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Starting IVs and central line care. Ventilated patients, interpretation of ABGs, and intubation. Management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure. Triage and isolation precautions. Care for diverse patient populations (neonates to geriatrics) with diagnoses such as CVA, traumatic brain injury, gunshot wounds, and burns. Certifications: Active WI or compact RN license in hand at the time of submission . BLS (American Heart Association only), ACLS , PALS , and TNCC are all required. Testing: Successful completion of a telemetry exam is required prior to starting the assignment. The exam covers both adult and pediatric rhythms, with a strict passing criteria of 80% or higher. Two attempts are allowed, with a third possible after completing a cardiac interpretation review course. Additional Notes Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles or more from the assigned work site. Locals are not accepted for this assignment. One pre-approved time-off request is permitted. Requests will be reviewed by the manager, but generally, no more than 2 weeks off are approved per contract. Flu vaccine is required. Medical and religious exemptions are considered.
