Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Psychiatric Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/15/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, nights, rotating Employment Type: Travel Adult Psych RN Days/Eves/Nights Rotate & EOW – 36hrs. 1. Unit Name: Epstein 4 – Adult Psych. 2. Brief Unit Description: 30-bed Adult Unit, ages 18-65 years. We treat patients with diverse types of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis patients: detox here on the unit while treating mental health issues), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, Wound Care, diabetic care). 3. Years of Experience Required: 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience. 4. Skill Sets Required: Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in electronic health records documentation, preferably EPIC; proficient in the use of psychotropic medications and side effects; Able to assume the role of charge nurse; Able to complete admissions and discharges; Competent in the use of IV pumps; Competent in care of a diabetic patient. 5. Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients. 6. Patient Population: Adult 18 to 65 years of age. 7. Bed Count: 30. 8. EMR (Charting System): EPIC. 9. Floating Required: Yes. 10. Rotating Shifts Required: Yes for Day Rotate, (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a). No more than 2-3 shifts per time block and typically not for more than 1 or 2 time blocks (4 week blocks). Nights position does not rotate. 11. Certifications Required: Active Massachusetts RN License. AHA BLS, Certification in De-escalation. 12. Additional Information: AVADE training offered on-site as well as lead EKG training. Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations. Rights of inpatient requirements related to restraint and seclusion, legal statuses. Knowledge of laws pertaining to guardianship, healthcare proxy (invoked vs confirmed) and court ordered Medication.
