Assistant Professor Of Computer Science

The College of Engineering at West Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position in computer science. The chosen candidate will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level, actively seek research grants, participate in all aspects of the college's mission, and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The College of Engineering includes 45 full-time faculty, over 750 undergraduate and 120 graduate students across programs in mechanical, civil, electrical, and environmental engineering, engineering technology, computer science, and mathematics. We are committed to student-centered learning, industry collaboration, and research with real-world impact. Tenure-track faculty are expected to: Establish a sustainable, nationally recognized research program. Recruit and mentor graduate students through externally funded research. Publish high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship. Innovate in teaching and curriculum development. Engage in institutional, professional, and community service. Necessary qualifications include: Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related disciplines (Required) Ability to teach undergraduate computer science courses. Demonstrated potential for impactful research and external funding. Commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring students at all levels. Capacity to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration across programs. Strong communication and leadership skills. Preferred qualifications include academic, industry, or teaching background in computer science core areas.
