Administrative Director

This position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and serves as the Business Executive for the Chiefs of the Divisions of Endocrinology, Rheumatology, and Hematology within the Department of Medicine. The individual collaborates with senior leadership from the DOM, DUHS, SOM, and DHIP to create business strategies, including both academic and clinical outreach. Provide administrative leadership and financial oversight of the daily operations and business planning for the three Divisions, including Finance, Program and Business Development, Faculty and Staff Affairs, Human Resources, Facilities, External Business Relations, and Educational Strategy. This dynamic role is the administrative leader across the tripartite missions within Duke University and Duke Health Integrated Practice (DHIP). Acts as senior advisor to the Division Chiefs. Collaborating with the DOM, DUHS, DU, and DHIP senior leadership to create strategic and operational strategies to enhance continuity of care, coordination across providers, and development of comprehensive care plans for DOM core evaluation and management divisions

including Endocrinology, Rheumatology, and Hematology. Working with the Vice Chair of Ambulatory Services, Vice Chair of Quality and Innovation, and Service Line Leaders, develop strategic and operational plans for the Department of Medicine (DOM) ambulatory enterprise. Duties and Responsibilities: Optimize network footprint

use DUHS and PDC case-mix assessments and market analysis across sites to validate that the right care is being delivered in the right place, by the right provider, at the right time. Organize into a care continuum

streamline patient experience - optimize patient flow, and reduce wait time - by establishing multisite dashboards to track clinical, patient satisfaction, and financial metrics across the system for a single condition or functional service. Align clinician compensation incentives with value-based goals, including productivity, quality, citizenship/engagement, variable and at-risk components, affordability, operational efficiency, and provider satisfaction. Collect data and measure the total cost of care across the system

specifically, developing standardized care protocols for several specialized episodes (e.g., transplants, cancer care, etc.) and tracking data at each patient touch point within the episode to monitor clinical effectiveness, financial outcomes, and patient satisfaction. Monitors and directs the operational and financial performance of all assigned areas and divisions. Maintains a management reporting system, providing timely data and financial analytics related to program development and execution in the value-based care models. Serves as the business executive representing the Department in developing and managing high-value and more equitable care management programs. Working with the Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Vice Chair of Quality and Innovation in performing regular outcomes evaluations, including patient-centered and health equity measures. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees, and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Education: Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field. Experience: Work requires a minimum of nine years progressively responsible experience in administrative management, to include proficiency in budgeting, grants and contracts, personnel supervision, and space and facilities management. A Master's degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Accounting or a closely related field may substitute for two years of required experience.
