Medical Assistant 2 - Total Health and Wellness

A Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the medical office or hospital. This position will support physicians, providers, nurses, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, documentation, and communication with a focus on patient experience, quality, and efficiency. The Medical Assistant will support the patient care treatment process by assisting the physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff in the appropriate delivery of patient care services. The Medical Assistant may be expected to perform multiple advanced clinical support tasks without supervision. Medical Assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. This position will arrange examining-room instruments and equipment, maintain supplies and equipment, and keep waiting and examining rooms neat and clean. The Medical Assistant verifies patient information by interviewing patients; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. This position prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. Minimum Education Required: High School graduate Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Training Program Medical Assistant certification is required with the approved certifications (i.e. CMA, NRCMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) 1 year of relevant experience required 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred Must maintain annual BuckeyeLearn requirements and required departmental training. Successful demonstration of clinical skill competency at the annual Ambulatory Skills Orientation and Review. Location: East Hospital - Tower (0397) Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
