Litigation Attorney Job Overview: A Virginia Beach-based law firm is seeking a highly experienced Litigation Attorney to take on a leadership role as Chair of its Litigation Department. This position calls for a strategic thinker with substantial civil litigation experience, demonstrated courtroom success, and a collaborative mindset. The role offers the opportunity to directly manage a diverse caseload, provide mentorship to legal support staff, and guide litigation initiatives within a firm committed to innovative, client-centered advocacy and a culture of continuous learning. Duties: Lead the litigation department and oversee case strategy and execution Manage a docket of 30–60 cases from inception to trial or resolution Represent clients independently in the general district and circuit courts Handle all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and trials Maintain consistent and professional client communication Mentor paralegals and junior attorneys within the firm Coordinate with attorneys across practice groups to deliver integrated legal services Contribute to the strategic growth and development of the litigation practice Requirements: Active license to practice law in Virginia and good standing Civil litigation experience, with full case handling responsibility Demonstrated trial experience and courtroom proficiency Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently Familiarity with Virginia’s civil procedure and litigation timelines Comfortable working in a paperless or tech-integrated legal environment Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Certifications: Admission to the Virginia State Bar (Required) Skills: Exceptional legal writing and oral advocacy abilities Advanced organizational and time management skills Strong interpersonal skills for team and client interactions Proficiency with legal research tools and case management software Knowledge in estate and trust matters, real estate, title law, or business law is a plus Job Location: Virginia Beach, VA (In-person position) 401(k) plan with employer matching Paid time off, including generous PTO and parental leave Bar dues and CLE costs covered Bonus pool participation Half-day Fridays No billable hours or origination requirements Supportive, collaborative workplace culture focused on professional growth Company info BCG Attorney Search 1629 K ST NW, Suite 300 Washington District of Columbia United States 20006 Phone :
