Program Director Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees. SUMMARY OF POSITION Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Environmental Services, This position is responsible for oversight or delegation of responsibilities within the EVS operation. The successful Environmental Services Lead Technician provides and maintains a clean and sanitary environment by ensuring all facilities surface are maintained. Assists EVS management in the day-to-day operations of Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center services including but not limited to staff scheduling, job assignments, performance management, and training. Functions as a primary contact for all Environmental Service needs during the shift. Ensures that EVS services are provided in a timely, consistent and collaborative manner while ensuring standards and procedures are followed. Also performs the duties of an EVS technician. ESSENTIALS DUTIES Serves as Safety Manager for the facility, and acts as the CRTP/Social Rehabilitation Program representative at all Safety Committee Meetings. Facilitates safety discussions at all CRTP/Social Rehabilitation Safety Sub-Committee Meetings. Reviews the Safety and Disaster Manual at least annually. Updates policies and procedures as needed. Proposes updated policies and procedures to the Program Director and Agency Safety Committee for recommendations and approval. Supervises/assigns all emergency drills. Insures that drills are conducted according to policy, and that the frequency of drills is in accordance with Gateways policy and requirements of contract agencies. Monitors the maintenance of all facility emergency equipment, including the fire alarm system, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and panic button alarm system. Supervises facility sanitation by monitoring that the residential rooms, grounds, activity buildings and staff offices remain in compliance with contract agencies and licensing standards. Conducts monthly Community Care Licensing Hazard Detection/Surveillance Report. Reports all findings to the chief engineer. Works effectively with clients who may be angry, hostile, or agitated. Handles periodic encounters with clients or others who may be psychotic, unstable, and/or intoxicated by alcohol or street drugs. Assigns disciplinary sanctions to all clients who are unable to maintain minimum sanitation levels in their living spaces. Supervises the delivery of all maintenance services. Insures that requests for maintenance services are submitted in a timely manner, and monitors for completion of all requested services. Monitors the security of the facility by completing security rounds, assigning rounds to staff, and monitoring for completion of assigned rounds. Provides Program orientation for clients and completes client orientation information packet, which includes the following: Personal and Resident Rights, Consent for Treatment, House Rules, Treatment Team Members and Grievance Complaint Form. Monitors/assigns the completion of person and property searches. Insures that all searches are conducted with the frequency indicated by contract agencies. Supervises and coordinates, in the absence of the daytime paraprofessional, medication monitoring, ordering of all medications, completes all weekly lab-work forms, and coordinates all aspects of medication injections. Oversees Dietary services. Trains all staff members on search, security, and emergency procedures. Schedules and monitors client house job list, restriction list and completion of extra duty assignments. Maintains linen and key records for incoming and outgoing clients. Provides administrative supervision to the Paraprofessional staff. Provides on call coverage for emergency consultation and intervention outside of regular work hours. Conducts and monitors orientation for newly hired staff. Follows up to insure that supervisees are meeting required objectives and deadlines, and assists if necessary. Formally reviews and appraises the performance of supervisees annually. Assists in personnel actions, such as recruitment, evaluations and discipline. Assists Program Director in program development and administrative functions, as needed. Responsible for consistent administration and enforcement of Administrative and Personnel policies and procedures with staff. Assists staff in understanding administrative decisions. Orders, receives, stocks, and maintains supplies for facility as needed. Supervises clients in household task assignments designed to increase their independent living skills. Responds appropriately under difficult or stressful circumstances. Performs other additional related tasks as assigned. Qualifications EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS One (1) year experience in mental health, social services, counseling, or substance abuse treatment. One (1) year successful management or supervisory experience. EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certification as an Adult Residential Administrator by the State of California, Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division* * Note: If Certification as an Adult Residential Administrator is lacking, it must be obtained within 6 months of hire. REQUIREMENTS Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance. Valid California Drivers license. TB clearance. Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier. Fire and Safety Training*. First Aid Training Certification*. CPR Certification*. Crisis Prevention Institute Training* (CPI)** * Note: If indicated certifications/licenses are lacking, they must be obtained within 180 days of hire. **Training needs to be completed within 30 days from the date of hire on a designated date provided by on-boarding. Staff need to be certified at the commensurate level for their role to perform their job duties (staff will be the taken off the schedule if certification is not achieved).
