About The Position
Registered Nurse/MICU:
Duration:13 Weeks
Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)
Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) provides critical care to patients with severe and complex medical conditions. Responsibilities include continuous monitoring, medication administration, ventilator management, and responding to life-threatening situations. The RN collaborates closely with physicians and the care team to stabilize and treat critically ill patients. Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills are essential.
If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.

Patient Diagnoses:
The most common diagnosis of patients include Oncologic Emergencies, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pneumonia, Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Gastrointestinal bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, consequences of oncologic treatment, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders and sepsis.
Special Procedures/Unit Details:
Common treatments for these hemodynamically compromised patients include mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, complex medication regimens, clinical trials and plasmapheresis. Many patients have underlying pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions requiring bronchoscopy or endoscopy.
