As a Principal Engineer/Architect, you will lead the design and development of distributed systems, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and scalable across both public and private cloud infrastructures. Your professional technical leadership will be pivotal in implementing industry-leading API management platform solutions, guiding the team to achieve excellence in integration and performance. Job responsibilities Creates complex and scalable coding frameworks using appropriate software design frameworks Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others Advises cross-functional teams on technological matters within your domain of expertise Serves as the function’s go-to subject matter expert Contributes to the development of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that are leveraged across teams and functions Influences leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect Leads the architectural design and implementation of distributed systems across public and private cloud environments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry standards. Provides strategic direction and oversight for the creation, maintenance and integration of API management platform solutions, enhancing system interoperability and performance. Mentors and develops junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 7+ years applied experience Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability Expert in one or more programming language(s) Advanced knowledge of software application development and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex technology problems in one or more technical disciplines Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager Ability to present and effectively communicate with Senior Leaders and Executives Understanding of the business Practical cloud native experience Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field Professional platform experience with Apigee, MuleSoft, or Kong platforms, along with hands-on experience in deploying and managing applications in public cloud environments Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Proven track record of designing and implementing distributed systems architecture in both public and private cloud environments. Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Strong understanding of API security best practices and experience with OAuth, JWT, and other authentication/authorization protocols. Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks. Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about technology and its impact on business outcomes. AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification, demonstrating expertise in designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS.
