The Chief Engineer oversees daily operations of the engineering department, supervising staff and ensuring maintenance, monitoring, and repair of HVAC, life support, and mechanical systems. Primary Responsibilities include: Supervising engineering staff activities and schedules Maintaining and repairing HVAC, life support, fire alarm, emergency generators, fire pumps, and automated building systems Performing preventive maintenance on equipment like sprinklers, forklifts, and golf carts Keeping detailed records of repairs and maintenance activities Developing preventative maintenance schedules and procedures Managing departmental payroll and staffing schedules Preparing and managing budgets, soliciting quotes, and preparing bids Skills and Qualifications
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and safety systems Experience with automated controls, pumps, and electrical systems Excellent organizational, record-keeping, and management skills Leadership ability to manage a team effectively Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Maintaining accurate records of daily operations and repairs Training new staff and overseeing equipment rounds Participating in safety and certification training Creating weekly staff schedules for 24-hour coverage Collaborating on irrigation system maintenance Overseeing preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, and fire systems Monitoring fire alarm and life support systems Managing ozone systems and HVAC maintenance Participating in safety programs and using PPE appropriately Additional Skills

Must Haves:
5+ years as a Stationary Engineer or related field 2+ years supervisory experience Expertise with controls, pumps, electrical systems Experience in commercial building operations Administrative & Management Skills:
Team-oriented, detail-oriented, good communication Experience with budgeting and vendor relations Education & Certification:
High school diploma required Valid 1st Class Engineering License (including A/C and Boilers) in New Orleans Technical Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office Comfort with mobile devices and tools Nice-to-Haves:
Passion for animals and mission-driven work Bachelor’s degree preferred Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, walk, stand, bend, and perform physical tasks Good vision and data analysis skills Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays Ability to work under stress and in varying conditions Note: Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
